BRAND STORY

Hi, I'm Emily, the founder and designer behind Emily Millichip.
My work is inspired by two worlds: the Scottish potato fields where I work in agriculture, and the city where I create my collections. I love the functionality and ease of classic workwear, and like to combine this with punk detailing and an unexpected edge. Every piece is made using natural fibres and thoughtfully sourced materials, reflecting my commitment to the natural world that informs my work.
Moving between my Edinburgh design studio and the fields of the Scottish Borders, I design and make everything locally with a small team of talented seamstresses and makers. A firm supporter of slow fashion, I often incorporate traditional craft techniques into many of my collections. These methods add the human touch to each piece and help keep traditional craftsmanship alive within contemporary fashion.
To minimise textile waste, most pieces are handmade to order. Patterns are carefully designed to use as much of the fabric as possible, and offcuts are reworked into our regular zero-waste collections.
The ever-changing landscapes, coastlines and skies of Scotland are a constant source of inspiration to me, as are the dirty and chaotic city streets. We contain multitudes. Let's get pagan. Em x
