In December 2017 Emily Millichip launched her international collaboration with Australian artist and textile designer Francoise Lane. Together with her husband Andrew, Lane runs of the few 100% indigenous owned and run design practices in Australia.
With the support of the Australia Council for the Arts and British Council Australia, Emily and Francoise created a limited edition collection of round backpacks, merging Francoise’s nature-inspired designs with Emily’s love of punk. The playful print was inspired by seeds and seed pods indigenous to the tropical North of Australia, and the three colourways were selected to echo and subvert the classic prints of polka dots, tiger print and camouflage.
The fabric was designed by Francoise Lane in Queensland, Australia, and the bags were designed and manufactured by Emily Millichip in Edinburgh, Scotland.
